Speaking Seven Languages

I’ve finally done it! I finally made a YouTube video of me speaking in seven languages! I started speaking French when I was six, but it wasn’t until 2016 that I really became passionate about learning languages. For a long time, I wanted to challenge myself by being able to casually speak different languages in front of a camera. I wanted to encourage my country to follow suit.

The U.S. often has this idea that we should only learn English, and that everyone else has to learn English. Because of this, we are blind. To learn another language is to accept another culture, to truly see a language, a country, for what they are. Something so simple as learning a language can help us work towards acceptance.

Over these past four years, I had the opportunity to live and study in different countries all over Europe and The Middle East. I tried to assimilate into each society to understand them. By doing that, I not only had a better grasp of the language but of the culture. I find it easy to advance my language skills when I am completely immersed in it; when I can’t even order a coffee in English.

Learning languages is my single favorite hobby, something that I will never tire of, something that makes me feel happy and proud. Right now, I am fluent in French, advanced in Italian and German, and fairly proficient in Arabic. I’m still very new to Russian and Portuguese but am fully dedicated to completing my fluency. In the near future, I hope to learn Spanish and some Asiatic language.

Please enjoy this video of my speaking in seven languages. I hope you are inspired by it.
